Funkya@Unkya Community Market
Overview
This is a grass roots bi-monthly community market for ‘make it, bake it, sew it, grow it’ producers and creatives as well as the environmentally sustainable concept to ‘reuse, recycle and re-invent’ held on the last Sunday of the even months.
The Funkya@Unkya community market started in Feb 2009 and is growing and gaining wide acclaim as a wonderfully enjoyable experience for all concerned.
The philosophy behind the Funkya @ Unkya market is one that serves the community by providing an interesting, fun and relaxed meeting place for the whole family under the shade of the tall pine’s – the atmosphere of the market is vibrant.
The market provides an opportunity for creative local artists, craftspeople, growers and musicians to show, sell and entertain with their special unique talents. Helping create an avenue to enhance the local economy and showcase some of this areas finest and funkiest talent.
The Mid North Coast is abounding with some extra-ordinary talent and here is the place to find that special something and network with artisans and producers.
The Unkya Community Reserve is a unique, picturesque and fully functional public reserve situated in the middle of the two villages of Eungai at the southern end of Nambucca Shire.
The Reserve is managed by the Unkya Reserve Management Committee (Section 355 Committee) – which is a voluntary organisation made up of local, community minded people who volunteer their time and expertise. The committee is responsible for the management of ‘Unkya Reserve’ on behalf of Nambucca Shire Council.
The philosophy of the committee is to provide a meeting place for building a strong and vibrant community.
